By way of Abbey and Dylan, I got to know Dusty a little more each time our paths crossed over these past so many years. I enjoyed seeing him as a regular at parties, where he was always quick to strike up a conversation and never failed to have something interesting to say. From those interactions, I immediately felt a certain kinship with him. Maybe it was some similar sense of the world or our place in it. It was evident how much he cared about his family and friends, particularly in the bond he shared with Dylan. Had my brother and I grown up in the same neighborhood, we no doubt would have become fast friends with the Long brothers. I’m glad I got the chance to know Dusty for as long as I did. Until our paths cross again.
